Product Description Grace Shelley's life has changed a lot these past four months. She's lost her best friend Graham, fallen in love with Death himself, Robert Bellegarde, made a new best friend in Stacy Kim, a spunky girl who clashes with Graham at every turn, and battled a rogue angel named Samael to death. And all before her eighteenth birthday.
And now she faces the biggest challenge in her life: Hormones.
With Graham seeking her help in understanding his feelings for Lark, Robert's icy sister, Grace gets a glimpse at just how difficult it is for a human to love an angel. Stacy's new relationship shows Grace that sometimes, dating a human isn't any easier. And Robert's refusal to take their relationship past the chaste and brotherly kisses they've shared has made Grace question his attraction to her.
It's as normal a life as Grace is going to get. But when she discovers who it was that nearly killed a few months ago in a hit-and-run, her accusation sets into motion a series of events that changes them all, angel and human alike.
At the end of it all, will Grace be left whole, or will she be even more broken than before?

Don't understand the high rating... August 17, 2010 S. Fisher (USA) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I've reviewed the first book, and to be honest, am only halfway through the second, but I feel that this gives me enough information to express an opinion on the series thus far. I honestly really can't understand the high praise of this series. My opinion? It's a bad, pretty silly knock-off of Twilight, to put it in a nutshell. This will be a lot like my review on the first book, but honestly, my feelings are the same halfway into this one.
The one pro is that the author is good at writing emotions, etc. Basically, her writing isn't stilted with the same, everyday adjectives and descriptions, so there is some lovely prose at times.
Cons are much more numerous than pros.
a) Silly adults. Times where I find myself scoffing out loud at what they do and say. The author seems to be trying to build angsty situations so that the emotions in the book are ratcheted up for the reader, but some of the situations are silly or seriously unbelievable. Small spoiler: What the vice-principal does and says to a student who has just been victimized by another, how he handles the situation, and how he allows himself to be blackmailed by the attacker (with a sort of threat from the attacker that is just silly and completely ridiculous) to try and get the "attackee" to break up with her boyfriend. Really?? COME ON. Ridiculous in the extreme. And even more ridiculous is that the vice-principal takes the "blackmail" seriously, and what he says to the "attackee". Completely stupid.
b) The author tries, but in the end fails, at teenage dialogue and interaction. The angel hero, of course, has the sort of smooth, old-fashioned dialogue that Edward in Twilight does, but the heroine of the book and the other teenagers just don't seem to speak and interact all the time like teenagers would. One very small instance.. the exclamation of choice for our heroine is "oh dear bananas." Come..ON. And the teens bust out laughing or snickering at times at things that aren't even remotely funny.
c) Unrealistic reactions to situations. The author wants to bring about the angst and emotion, but the situations in which the characters have these huge emo reactions can be just plain silly, and don't seem to warrant the type of reaction they get.
d) Heroine is, of course, supposed to be seen as different than other teenage girls, (angel hero repeatedly reminds us of this) not conventionally pretty, and is treated like a "freak" (that word is used so many times to describe her I can't even count) and complete social pariah. Except... the only explanations for why her peers avoid her and call her freak and laugh at her is: 1) She survived a car wreck when she was young; was miraculously unhurt while her mother died from it, and 2) er... she doesn't dress in the most expensive clothes and... uh... she's not conventionally beautiful? Those are the only explanations given. Neither of these warrant such extreme negative reactions to her, and make them seem pretty ridiculous. I rolled my eyes so many times at the extreme way in which the other kids treated her. It made NO sense whatsoever. And the most beautiful girl in the school hates her with a passion for.. being best friends with the guy she wanted to date, and then dating another hot guy (our angel hero) that she wants to date later. The pretty, nasty girl does awful, crazy hateful things to the heroine, and really, there's just no plausible reason for the extremes she goes to. It just doesn't make sense. *eye rolls again*
Honestly too, I don't see how the heroine, Grace, is sooo very different. She seems pretty normal to me. She will say or do one thing that seems pretty normal, and the angel hero falls all over himself to tell her how different and special she is. Huh? Sorry... not enough differences and specialness about her to warrant all of the "you're so different!" reactions.
e) No discernible plot thus far. I just don't see where it's going. At least in Twilight you could feel the tension between the vampires and werewolves and there was always the Volturi and other things, besides Edward/Bella that could give you the feeling of a "plot". In this series I'm about halfway through the second book and STILL don't know where it's going. The only plot thus far are silly situations in which to showcase Robert and Grace's "lurve" and devotion to one another.
f) Robert and Grace fall inexplicably, soul-searingly, deeply, crazily in love with one another. They are soul mates. They were meant for one another. She IS his life now. (sound familiar?) She would die for him. He would die for her. (SPOILER: at one point he thinks he has to lie to her and tell her he doesn't really love her, which causes his "death" because angels aren't supposed to be able to lie, and because it's so traumatic. This is one of those situations too where you're left going... huh??) Anyway, this is no teenage crush thing (we are repeatedly reminded), this is real, deep, complete and utter soul-crushing, die without one another- love.
Um... so why do they feel so passionately about one another? No real reasons are given. (Twilight was better at giving us an explanation for Bella/Edward, and even then, I still felt we didn't get enough reasoning behind their desperate love for one another)
g) Numerous, too many to mention similarities and downright "twin situations" to Twilight. Too many to type out and mention, but I tell you the truth, in some places of the series, it's like the author read the Twilight series and took plots and situations with Bella/Edward and just changed their names to Grace and Robert. No joke.
and finally, h) Quite a few grammatical and spelling errors. I'm surprised the book made it to print in this state. Needs some serious editing.
To sum all of this up... it's just not that good of a series. It's kind of ridiculous, and the emotions and interactions can come off as silly and false a lot of the time. I'm amazed at all of the five star ratings.
Not trying to sound too unkind toward the author.. but I've read much better. I'm pretty disappointed.

What can I say: I liked the sequel even more than the first one! And I rated Falling from Grace 5 stars so that says quit a bit..:)
In the sequel Grace, Robert and the other characters are faced with a great deal of complications concerning their mutual relationships and I really thought that the developments in their relationships where veeery interesting!
As I've said in my previous review of Falling from Grace I really admire s.l.naoele for her characters' personalities - we are presented with the qualities of realistic people instead of some ideal picture of each character(something you often find in today YA-novels!).
Also, I thought that the developments in the relationships and the general plot were quite unpredictable and I espcially have to give props to s.l.naeole for the ending - it definitely sets itself apart from most of the YA-paranormal-romances out there due to the level of realism(as much realism as you get in a PARAnormal novel!) rather than the whole ideal/rosery sort of ending which it seems is becoming the norm of YA-novels! I will of cause not reveal any details here, but I'll just say that I thought she ended the book with a bang and that it definitely leaves you fidgeting with excitement for the next book!
So go out and buy the book now and I'm sure you will not regret it!

4 stars. August 3, 2010 Christianna Prokop (New Jersey, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
i am completely in love with this series, this book more so then the first one. the only reason i give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the ending. i hate cliff hangers! i felt like the book ended with no real solution to any problems that occured throughout the book. i think that i would have liked this book so much more had i waited for the next book to come out so i wouldn't have to wonder whats going to happen next. other then the ending though i really enjoyed this book and i can't wait for the series to continue.:)
