Pup won't eat them August 30, 2010 hedtil My puppy is an eating machine, but she doesn't seem to even recognize these treats as food. They're dry little crackers, so perhaps it's the consistency - who knows. I've tried putting them between her food, wetting them down, pretending to eat it myself before giving it to her, etc. Nope. She just stares at them and walks away. I'll try again in a bit - she's still growing so who knows - but so far these were a complete flop.
Dogs Love Them and They're Cheap as Dirt August 21, 2010 David C. Roberts (Potomac, Md USA) We got our first jar of these treats from the breeder who raised our dog. She said exactly what I used as the title of the review--"Dogs love them and they are cheap as dirt."
When I looked a the label I was happy with the ingredients, and I saw that they are only 3 calories per treat! The small size means that you can use them for training, and you can give the dog a lot of them without filling up--and you won't have given the dog a lot of calories, either.
This is a good thing to keep in mind if you need to plump up your order to $25 to get free shipping. If your order is at $20, you can save more than the price of the treats by ordering them! And your dog will love you for it.
Highly recommended!
Great Low Calorie Training Treats July 10, 2010 HTBK (San Francisco, CA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Charlee Bears are small and low calorie, so you can use them en masse for training. We use them both for standard training (sit, stay, drop it, leave it) and behavioral training (no bark). They're not stinky or messy, so you can put them in your pocket, purse, or car without worry. We keep a small bag in the car for travel to reinforce when our puppy doesn't bark at people walking by, one by the door to reinforce when she goes to the bathroom outside, and a bunch of treats in a treat bag for travel.
The one downside to these is that because they're not as stinky, it can be harder to use them to get your dog's attention if he or she is distracted, like at the dog park or if you have a bunch of visitors. Our trick to get around this is that we put some stinky treats in the treat bag with these, and they'll take on some of the scent (We use Pro-Treat Beef Liver, Freeze Dried Dog Treats, 21 Ounce).
Our dog loves all flavors.
Always A Favorite June 14, 2010 Coffee Snob (SAN FRANCISCO, CA,) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Both of my dogs love this! It's small and doesn't have alot of calories in case you need to watch the quantity you give. It's tasty to them and they are real excited when it's training time or snack time!
works for the littles May 26, 2010 LegalLexie (Seattle, WA) We use these little crunchy treats for our chihuahuas and they work great. They're small enough for tiny chihuahua mouths and the crack/crunch is kinda entertaining for the dogs. They're 3 calories each, right? So, I don't feel bad about giving them multiples. They'd probably be good training treats except chihuahuas don't train (or listen.)
